The largest ground source heat pump (GSHP) network at a UK secondary school
GeoDrill was delighted to be awarded the drilling and cross connection contract for the largest ground source heat pump (GSHP) network at a UK secondary school. A two rig program was required to deliver drilling and ground source loop installation in a noise sensitive enviroment during the schools exam period.
The Comberton Village College GSHP project has enabled the school to switch from ageing oil boilers, slashing its carbon emissions, for heating, by 70 per cent in a move that is expected to save thousands of pounds a year in energy costs.
GeoDrill drilled and installed 60 boreholes that run over 200m deep, connected to two large ground source heat pumps, which piped the heat to 11 plant rooms around the large site, providing up to 705kW of energy.
